Representation of memory and space in Zainichi literature (Vortrag in japanischer Sprache, ins Deutsche gedolmetscht)

Representation of memory and space in Zainichi literature (Vortrag in japanischer Sprache, ins Deutsche gedolmetscht)

Yumi Hirata, Osaka University, Division of Studies on Cultural Dynamics, Graduate School of Letters

This lecture will deal with two novels written by the first generation of Resident Korean in Japan. In the class session, we will analyze the past “memories” and “histories” engraved in the place where they live, by listening to various “sounds” resonating in the stories. From a vantage point of connectivity between people and places, this lecture will explore the spatial creativity of literary texts.
